General Running Around while in Cairns

We found we had heaps of general running around to do prior to the rally. The list below covers most of what we did with the exception of ships stores from Coles etc and visiting general outlets like Whitworths, Jaycar, local chandlery for bits and pieces.
  • Doctors - for scrips and advise while traveling around. (see list below for what was purchased)
  • Chemist for non scrip items (see list below)
  • Inoculations, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Hep B (had Hep A previously), Typhoid, Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis, Flu and Malaria.
  • Purchased good sturdy walking shoes that can get wet. so great for in and out of the tender.
  • Made a list of all important dates past July 2016 so things could be well organised in advance while over seas
  • Post Office
  • Bank of Queensland - new cards and exchanged Rupiah
  • Westpac - new cards with low fees while overseas. Interesting to note Westpac is Australia's only internal bank with very low ATM fees.
  • Hair cuts
  • Changed all correspondence where we could to come to us via email. for those that couldn't do that we used one of our daughters residential address.
  • Borrowed an iPhone 5S and an Ipad mini so as we had backup communication devices
  • Spare Soda Water cylinders
  • Serviced and repaired two tender propellers
  • Extra Gas Bottle
  • Jerry cans for diesel and water
  • Purchased a new engine start battey

  • Chlorsig Drops for eye infections
  • Alprim for bladder infections
  • Gastro Stop capsules for Diarrhea
  • Fucidin ointment for skin irritations and rashes eg. cuts that turn nasty after a scrap on coral
  • Flamzine for burns
  • Panadine Forte - strong pain killer
  • Keflex as a general antibiotic for sore throats, boils that look nasty, ulcers etc
  • personal scripts filled for 4 months
Non Script Purchases (please note this is only what we purchased as we already had a fairly extensive first aid kit):
  • Travel Calm for sea sickness (non drowsy)
  • Kwells for sea sickness (make you drowsy)
